The Kissing Hand On the first day of school, our class enjoys reading The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. In this sweet story, a nervous raccoon named Chester is worried about going to school until his mother comforts him by kissing his hand. After reading this story, we talk about who brought us to school and how we feel. Then, each student fills out a hand shaped page to add to our class book "The Kissing Hand." Each child also illustrates the page by drawing a picture of the person who brought them to school on the very first day.
