Dear Parents,

Welcome to first grade at Corbell Elementary!  I am delighted to be your child’s teacher this year, and I look forward to getting to know you and your family.  To better acquaint myself with your child, I would like to ask you to write me a letter about your special son or daughter. Please don’t worry about handwriting, spelling, or grammar.  I enjoy getting a parent’s insight into his or her child.  Here is a list of some things you might like to include:

*      Brag!  Tell me all the things you think are wonderful about your child.

*      What are your child’s interests, hobbies, passions?  What does he/she do in his/her spare time?  What kinds of friends does your child prefer?

*      What might make your child feel insecure (i.e. social situations, being in front of the class, public speaking, specific subject area, etc.)?

*      Are there any special considerations I should be aware of (health problems, changes in family situations, attitude, recent move or divorce)?

*      What kinds of teaching/teachers does your child respond best to?

*      What concerns, if any, do you have about your child this year?

Thank you for taking the time to help me become better acquainted with you and your child.  I look forward to working with you and to helping your child have the most successful school year possible!

Sincerely,

Mrs. McDowell
